Happy Giving Tuesday, a national movement to add a day of charity and doing good founded by the 92nd Street Y, the United Nations Foundation and Mashable, and supported by many nonprofits and corporations as well as individuals to jumpstart the giving season in the US.
I’ve set up a fundraiser for NTEN on Crowdrise and all donations are being matched to day by the Case Foundation and Six Degrees as part of a match day – in partnership with Networked for Good. I’m proud to be a community champion for NTEN and an Ambassador for Giving Tuesday – so why not combine the two and raise some extra money in matching funds! I made the first contribution in memory of my father-in-law, William Halvorsen, who passed away yesterday. Please consider a gift of $10, $25, or more to help me reach my goal of $500 to support the organization that does so much to help nonprofits harness the power of technology for their missions!
What I love about having a national day of giving is that I’m not alone! There are many people, organizations, and corporations getting out the give today. From matching gifts to launching clever campaigns like the pop quiz that DoSomething.Org has shared to celebrate this day. Philanthropic leaders are talking about Giving Tuesday from Bill Gates to Jean Case. The mainstream media is sharing stories and spreading the word about Giving Tuesday – see this NPR story and coverage on ABC as two of many and even the weather channel.
It’s time get out the give! Make a contribution to your favorite charity (and if you want to support an awesome organization that empowers nonprofits to get more impact with technology, please consider a gift to NTEN which will be matched by the Case Foundation and Six Degrees until midnight tonight.
