January 26, 2011 by Beth Kanter

Note from Beth: I've been looking for good examples of nonprofit mobile strategies.  I had to look no further than the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch Program.   With  75% of the world's fisheries are fished to capacity, or overfished, the fish we order in restaurants or pick up at the grocery store for dinner, has the power to make this situation worse, or improve it.     But, as consumers, we don't have that information handy, unless the the restaurant specifically lets us know and, … [Read more...]

How Networked Nonprofits Visualize Their Networks

January 25, 2011 by Beth Kanter

Two weeks ago, the social media maven from the National Wildlife Federation, Danielle Brigida, tweeted the above photo showing how they were mapping one of their networks with one of my favorite low tech tools:  sticky notes.    This got my attention because I was designing a Networked Nonprofit workshop for E-Mediat and will incorporate a network mapping exercise.   Danielle connected me to Daniel Chu, Vice President, Affiliate and Regional Strategies and resident network weaving … [Read more...]

Trish Tierney, Executive Director of IIE from the West Coast Center welcomed … [Read more...]

This second post shares some insights from the planning sessions for E-Mediat project, a networked approach to capacity building for NGOs in Social Media in the Middle East.  (For context, read my earlier post) One of the project tasks is to develop a multilingual online learning community for partners, contributors, sponsors, participants, teams, mentors, social media techies from the region, and trainers to interact and share best practices.   Meedan, an implementation partner, is … [Read more...]
