E-Mediat: Networked Capacity Building in the Middle East

January 18, 2011 by Beth Kanter

Last week, I participated in three very intense days of project, curriculum, and online community planning for a new project, E-Mediat, a multi-stakeholder capacity building  project for NGOS and Social Media in the Middle East.   This is the first of a three-part post about the planning meetings. I'll be sharing insights about the project as it unfolds -- it is going to be a rich opportunity for learning because it is a capacity building project that leverages a networked approach.  I'm the … [Read more...]

Some Social Media Capacity Building Inspiration from MLK

January 17, 2011 by Beth Kanter

Today is the  25th anniversary of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, to celebrate his work  and legacy.   One of the most powerful and lasting ideas was his belief in strengthening communities and empowering individuals.  His vision helped him achieve a great many goals and he has inspired many generations of Americans. Using Social Media to Share Research

January 10, 2011 by Beth Kanter 8 Comments

Note from Beth: Last Spring,  Allison Fine and I did an evaluation report for the Case Foundation on the America's Giving Challenge 2009.  One of the ideas we explored is it possible through social media to share some of the findings in a conversational way to help prod more insights from the field.   We experimented with "Conversational Case Studies" and found that conversation in the comments helped improve the richness of the final report. That model uses social media a mechanism to give … [Read more...]
