November 3, 2015 by Beth Kanter 6 Comments

I've just returned from an inspiring week in Kiev, Ukraine where I got to facilitate a training for women's organizations organized by Wake, an amazing start up founded by two respected colleagues Trish Tierney and Heather Ramsey.  They  started WAKE after working together for 15 years designing and leading global programs at the intersection of technology, civil society and women's empowerment.  The program is called Tech2Empower and you can learn more about it here.  We had an incredible team … [Read more...]

Two Opportunities for Nonprofits to Power their #GivingTuesday Campaigns — Facebook Ad Credits & #MyGivingStory

November 2, 2015 by Beth Kanter 2 Comments

I'm just back from two weeks of inspiring work where I participated in a training for women organizations in the Ukraine and the International Fundraising Congress in Holland.   So, expect more some posts this week from about what I learned.  But despite jet lag and an over flowing email in box, I wanted to write up two opportunities for nonprofits that could help them power up their year end and Giving Tuesday Campaigns. This photo is from an open space session during last week's Funders Learning Lab: Investing In Network Leadership.   I proposed a session with a title, "Going from Self Care to We Care" to talk about how do we scale a culture of self-care in networks.   The networks, nonprofits organizations, and movements are filled with people who are passionate about social change work, but often work hard and long with few resources and many just keep going without giving a thought to self-care. I posed the … [Read more...]

Trainer's Notebook: Fishbowl Facilitation Technique

October 13, 2015 by Beth Kanter

Last week, I participated in the "Funders Learning Lab: Investing in Networks and Network Leadership."  The participants included both funders and practitioners with expertise in networks, leadership development, philanthropy and social justice.   The goal was to add to our collective understanding about investing in network leadership and networks.   The lab was convened by Leadership Learning Community and Center for Social Sector Leadership.  It was expertly facilitated by Alison Lin and Odin … [Read more...]
