#MyGivingStory Contest 2018

November 13, 2018 Filed Under: Philanthropy

I am thrilled to be a judge for #MyGivingStory 2018!  So, of course, I want to encourage you to share your giving story and compete for cash grants for your favorite nonprofit organization.
#MyGivingStory is a social media storytelling contest that fosters a public conversation about giving and inspires more people to give. Entrants have the opportunity to win up to $10,000 for their chosen nonprofit organization, in addition to other prizes and grants. Entries will be accepted through November 30th and voting runs through December 7th.
It is very simple to enter this contest.  Nonprofits can encourage their supporters to participate or if you are a donor, than you can submit your story. Here are the steps.

  1. Write or Record Your #MyGivingStory. Think of a story, experience or person that inspired you to give, choose a format (essay or video), and craft your story.
  2. Post Your Story. Visit the contest page and click on Submit Your Story. Make sure to include the nonprofit organization that will receive a grant if your story is among the winners.
  3. Share Your Story on Social Media. The more votes you get, the better your chances of winning. (People can vote for your story once per day. The 20 stories with the most votes will become Finalists.)

You can find tips and tricks for crafting winning stories and getting out the vote in the FAQ section on the #MyGivingStory site.
In addition to offering the opportunity to win up to $10,000 in cash grants, #MyGivingStory helps organizations engage donors and reach new supporters, gather shareable testimonials about their impact, and kickstart their #GivingTuesday campaigns. Visit #MyGivingStory to get more information and to enter. You can find additional information tailored to organizations in our toolkit.
Every act of giving has a story. What’s yours?
