25 SMART Social Media Objectives

June 1, 2011 by Beth Kanter

I've been working on a peer learning project with arts organizations called "Leveraging Social Media" based on the social media lab.   There are two cohort groups, one working on strategic use of a single channel and a more advanced group working on an integrated  strategy.    With both, the process begins with setting SMART objectives and  Kami Huyse points out why this is important. Using SMART objectives for nonprofit communications strategies is not new idea.   Spitfire's useful  SMART chart … [Read more...]

Privacy and Security on Social Networks

May 25, 2011 by Beth Kanter

A colleague recently shared this video that pokes fun of  the  "always on, gotta share everything on social networks" lifestyle for many people here in America.  It is a serious issue for professionals here in the US, especially if  they work in education or youth service nonprofits.    In many places in the world,  sharing everything online can be a life and death matter particularly for activists working in certain countries. Show Your Mama Some Love

May 4, 2011 by Beth Kanter 7 Comments

Show some love in the next fews at To Mama With Love, a creative social fundraiser that leverages the emotional connection we feel with our own mothers or our own pride of being a mom.  Epic Change is inviting everyone to participate in an online collaborative art project to honor moms around the Globe. I created a heartspace using a photo of my mom and are dancing.   She always encouraged me to participate in the arts.   Growing up, I took ballet lessons, played flute, attended concerts, … [Read more...]
