Fist bumps to @msftcitizenship for hosting #KanterSEA! And look, I'm rocking my #Surface to live tweet. Woot! twitter.com/sldoolittle/st… — Shanon Doolittle (@sldoolittle) February 11, 2013 I'm in Seattle for a couple days doing a round of "Measuring the Networked Nonprofit,"  events to talk about measurement, data, and impact, generously sponsored by Microsoft.     I started the day with a "Beth, Book, and Bagels" event hosted by Pyramid Communications, followed by a lunch talk at the Microsoft … [Read more...]

Active Training: To Get Nonprofit Audiences Engaged, Keep Them Moving

February 8, 2013 by Beth Kanter Leave a Comment

Next week, I headed to Seattle for a couple of days of  events around my book, "Measuring the Networked Nonprofit," co-authored with KD Paine.   I'm doing a session for the NW Philanthropy and have been asked to talk a little about how to design peer learning and trainings for nonprofits.     Having trained nonprofits on every continent of the world (except Antarctica),  I had a great laboratory to develop my instructional design and delivery skills.    One of the biggest challenges is keeping … [Read more...]

February 4, 2013 by Beth Kanter

Last week, Bill Gates' 2013 Annual Letter highlighted the power of data and measurement to help lift the world's most needy up from poverty.     I heard about it from several tweets asking me if he had read "Measuring the Networked Nonprofit" and colleague, Marion Conway, wrote a great summary of the letter which was also available in an interactive format on the web. There are many takeaways from his letter, but I wanted to identify a few inspiring quotes here. 1.   Define A Clear Goal for … [Read more...]
