The Nonprofit Book We've Been Waiting Four Years To Read Is Finally Here: New Power

April 3, 2018 by Beth Kanter 2 Comments

Back in November, 2014, Henry Timms and Jeremy Heimans published an article about “New Power” in the Harvard Business Review that caught my eye.  The concepts around connectivity and leadership were synergistic with the concept of networked leadership that Allison Fine and I wrote about in the Networked Nonprofit, published in several years before. The article caught fire - not only in nonprofit and philanthropy circles - but also business, government, and beyond. Today, after several years of … [Read more...]

Are you going to #deletefacebook?

March 22, 2018 by Beth Kanter 4 Comments

In the aftermath of the reports that Cambridge Analytica, a firm that worked on President Trump’s 2016 campaign, used private data on 50 million Facebook users has erupted into a strong backlash against Facebook. Book Review: Work That Matters

March 12, 2018 by Beth Kanter Leave a Comment

Last month I was lucky enough to run into Maia Duerr who participated in Wake's Tech2EmpowerUSA at a workshop I was facilitating on the Happy Healthy Nonprofit. Maia Duerr recently published a book called "Work that Matters: Create a Livelihood that Reflects Your Core Intention." Given our mutual interests, we had a lot to share about mindfulness and well being. A writer, consultant, and coach, Maia Duerr draws on her decades of Zen practice and training in anthropology to create powerful … [Read more...]
