April 6, 2016 by Beth Kanter

Happy National Walking Day!  Every year, the American Heart Association sponsors National Walking Day on the first Wednesday in April. They use this day to remind people about the health and other benefits of taking a walk. Why not celebrate with a walking meeting? To inspire us to keep up the pace,AmericaWalks reminds us that it is also #walkatwork month. Ever since I strapped a Fitbit on my wrist three years ago, every day has been a walking day for me. My daily goal is 15,000K steps. Here's … [Read more...]

Meet Dr. James A. Levine: The 1st "You can walk and work!"Evangelist

November 4, 2015 by Beth Kanter Leave a Comment

On my 12 hour plane ride back from Ukraine, I read Dr. James A. Levine's book "Get Up: Why Your Chair Is Killing You and What You Can Do About It." Take A Walk! Work Smarter and Live Longer

May 15, 2015 by Beth Kanter Leave a Comment

We know that sitting is bad for your health and has been dubbed "the new smoking."    Two years ago I got put on a fitbit and started walking, and haven't stopped.  It's benefited overall physical health and boosts cognitive function. I've been incorporating sitting, standing, and walking into my work and doing sessions at nonprofit conferences about walking as work.    After a session at the NTEN Nonprofit Technology Conference,  Lisa Colton, set up the "Take A Walk" group on Facebook for … [Read more...]
